Sometimes, it can seem like nothing is helping to clear up acne. Lots of acne products boast miraculous results, but the reality is that many fall short of their claims. There are effective treatments out there, though. Being armed with the correct information can go a long way to healthier, smoother skin.





Many times people will pop their pimples in hopes that it will make them go away. If you have to pop your pimples, make sure your hands and fingernails are clean so that you do not get any bacteria into your pores; this will cause another pimple! If you pop responsibly, you can see your acne diminish quickly.





If you frequently suffer from acne, try wearing garments composed of natural fibers and dress in attire that is appropriate for the weather. Not only can synthetic fabrics trap sweat next to the skin during hot, wet weather, but those weather conditions themselves can aggravate some people's acne problems. You can lessen the frequency of the acne breakouts in warm weather by wearing lightweight, comfortable clothing that will not aggravate the skin in warmer climates.





Try and live as stress free as possible. Stress is sometimes the main culprit behind acne outbreaks. Consider a daily routine that involves some sort of exercise and meditation. Combining physical workouts with meditation helps to relieve stress. You are given a physical and mental workout.





Never pick at any scars that are formed by your acne. Doing so can lead to infection and permanent scars. To help do something about acne scars, talk with a doctor about medical treatments.





Hands are often covered with unseen grime and oils, so don't pick at your facial skin as it can easily lead to infection. The pores on your face can trap the dirt and oils, and this causes pimples.





Apple cider vinegar has been proven to aid in clearing acne. It is also a good way to cleanse your body of impurities. There are many drink recipes that have apple cider vinegar in them, or you can drink it plain, if you choose.





A great at home trick for getting rid of acne is the use of honey. If you mix honey and cinnamon together and place it on your face for 5-10 minutes, you will have smoother skin and it will also remove excess oils and waste from your face.





To help prevent acne, make sure you are drinking lots of water. As a general rule, try to drink a glass of water at least a minimum of eight times a day. When water intake is insufficient, dehydration starts. Dehydration can trigger acne blemishes because it causes your skin to slow down the shedding of dead skin cells, which causes blocked pores. The accumulation of dead cells can lead to flare ups if they stay on the skin.





To reduce acne, you need to stay well hydrated. You need to drink the recommended amount of water each day. It is recommended that everyone drinks at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. These cells can clog your pores which will cause acne.





Touch your face as sporadically as possible to reduce your acne. This also means not popping existing pimples. By reducing the amount one touches their face, they will lower the amount of oils that can be transferred. Also, avoiding popping pimples can help one avoid nasty infections that could occur.





Caffeine is notorious for causing acne, so it is important to moderate your intake of coffee, teas and sodas. Cutting caffeine out of your diet could result in fewer breakouts.





First, wrap a single piece of ice in a thin cloth, then place the compress on the affected area for no longer than 20 minutes. The ice will reduce the swelling and the redness that may occur. Some of the spots can be sore and ice will help with that as well. Ice also does the same job of topical anti-inflammatory product, which means you don't need to apply nasty chemicals to areas that are already irritated.





Skin care treatments containing salicylic acid are very effective in treating acne. This helps the skin to shed cells more quickly.





Zinc is a good supplement to help you fight acne because it is an antioxidant that helps fight free radical formation under the skin. If you are suffering from cystic acne and you want to decrease the appearance of blemishes on your face, you should include a zinc supplement in your diet everyday to eliminate the acne from within.





Keep your consumption of alcoholic drinks to a minimum. Alcohol is fine in moderation. However, excessive drinking can depress your body's ability to fight acne and contribute to your problem.





It sounds crazy, but do you believe that using a cellphone can cause acne breakouts? Oil and skin residue from your face and hair stay on your phone. Next time you use it, those impurities are deposited right back on your face. You may clean your phone with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol to remove these oils. Try not to touch your phone to your face when you use it.





If you are unsure why you are having trouble with your acne, don't forget to check any medications you may be taking. Acne can get worse if you use certain medicines that have hormones in them. If your acne is bad, ask your doctor about switching medications to one that will not cause acne.





If you have acne-prone skin, make sure you clean up after sweating. The longer your body has sweat on it, the greater the chance your pores will get clogged, which can lead to acne. After a heavy, sweat-inducing activity, take a good, hot shower.





Refrain from touching any affected areas, when you are fighting acne. Your hands can transfer oil and dirt to your face, making the problem worse. It is important to stop touching your face immediately. These sorts of gestures can make acne worse.
